Introductory Trial Program

Leadership Club

The Leadership Club is our premier program for guiding students to achieving their Black Sash. Benefits of our Leadership Club include everything in the Premium Introductory Trial Program above, plus:

Monthly Leadership Seminar led by Master Eric Sbarge.
Your child will learn important secrets and skills of persuasion, leadership and success directly from Master Sbarge. These one-hour seminars will help prepare your child for optimum success in school, in careers and in life.
Fifteen minutes of Leadership Club training added on to each regularly scheduled weekly class.
Leadership students enjoy a total of two extra hours of intensive Leadership training each month. Half of this time is dedicated to advanced leadership skills and principles, and half to advanced kung fu training exclusive to Leadership Club students.
Hands-on leadership experience as an Assistant to the Instructor.
Your child will actually implement and refine the leadership skills trained in the seminars and classes by becoming an Assistant to the Instructor in our children's martial arts program. Once the purple sash is earned, your child will be assigned a martial arts class to assist with and your child will be mentored by that class’s instructor.
Special kung fu training within the regular class curriculum.
Beyond our regular curriculum, Leadership Students enjoy fun and motivating training in our Black Sash Curriculum including ground grappling, exciting kung fu weapons, and special forms that aren’t available to Introductory Program students.
Unlimited use of training equipment and facilities even outside of class time.
Maximize your child's results using our top-of-the-line facilities, equipment and outdoor training areas morning and night, seven days a week during our normal business hours.
Option of taking an additional regular group class each week.
Our curriculum is designed to guide Leadership Club students to their Black Sash in approximately 60 months when taking two classes per week with daily practice at home. Leadership Club students have the option of enhancing their skills by coming to three regular classes per week instead of two.
Special optional advanced classes open to Leadership Club students only.
Option of significantly increasing skills by joining weekly Demo and Competition Team Class (Orange Sash and above) and weekly Shuai Chiao Grappling Class (Green Sash and above) led by Master Eric Sbarge
Exciting optional class in traditional Chinese Lion Dancing.
Your child will build important team skills, fitness and agility while having great fun in the twice-a-month Lion Dance Team classes.
Special Leadership Club uniform.
To recognize those who have pledged their "Commitment to Leadership and Success" a dark purple t-shirt with the above slogan is worn with pride exclusively by Leadership Club members.


Black Sash Club

Benefits of our Black Sash Club include everything in the Premium Introductory Trial Program above, plus:

Special kung fu training within the regular class curriculum.

Leadership and Black Sash Club Eligibility Requirements

The Peaceful Dragon’s core continuing-education children’s programs, our premier Leadership Club as well as the Black Sash Club, are open to children aged 5 to 13.

To be eligible, the student must meet all of the following requirements:

  1. Successfully complete a minimum of six weeks of classes.
  2. Be recommended by his or her instructors (based on good behavior and genuine effort in class).
  3. Have steady attendance (minimum average of two classes per week).
  4. Demonstrate positive conduct at home and at school as confirmed by the parent and teacher.
  5. Have earned at least four stars on the "New Student Superstars" wall chart for completing Take-Home Lessons.
  6. Have application form turned in by assigned deadline, and approved by student’s instructors and our Head Instructor, Master Eric Sbarge.

Ongoing Membership Requirements

Positive conduct and effort must be displayed while training at The Peaceful Dragon, while at home, while at school and in public. A Leadership or Black Sash Club member represents the ideals of The Peaceful Dragon and must live up to those ideals. Mistakes can be made, but they must be corrected with humility and the desire to improve. Students who repeatedly fail to display the ideals of a Black Sash will have their membership rescinded.

As a member of the Leadership Club, every effort should be made to actively contribute to our school since one's strength and success in martial arts is dependent on the strength and success of one's school. Members should volunteer on clean-up and maintenance days or with other school activities; make every effort to attend Peaceful Dragon functions that are designated for children; consider joining the Lion Dance and Demo Team to display and help others learn about our martial arts program; and regularly promote our school to friends and contacts and encourage them to come visit.

The Leadership and Black Sash Club Pledge

I pledge to make the "Commitment to Excellence and Leadership" needed to earn my Black Sash and will be an honorable and exemplary member of The Peaceful Dragon's Leadership or Black Sash Club.

I agree to the following:

  1. I will train hard until I have achieved the skills and positive qualities needed to earn my Black Sash.
  2. I will always give the greatest effort possible in my martial arts classes, at school and in my responsibilities at home.
  3. I will use my skills and strength only to improve myself, never to harm others.
  4. I will remain respectful and loyal to my instructors, fellow students, and parents at The Peaceful Dragon.
  5. I will demonstrate good conduct and behavior at school and at home.
  6. I will only choose and keep friends who share my positive values and good behavior.
  7. I will strive to be compassionate and helpful to everyone I meet.
  8. I will strengthen my good habits and overcome my bad habits and weaknesses.
  9. I will volunteer and contribute when ever I can to help The Peaceful Dragon be the best martial arts school possible.
  10. I understand that earning a Black Sash is not the goal. The goal is being the greatest person I can be - and the Black Sash is my reward for becoming that great person.
